Banca Intesa and EBRD finance the improvement of energy efficiency

Banca Intesa and European Bank for Research and Development signed the Agreement on using the first credit line of EBRD in Serbia to finance earmarked projects of private companies for efficient use of energy and renewable energy sources.

Ms. Draginja Đurić, CEO and Ms. Hildegar Gacek, EBRD Director for Serbia signed the agreement in the presence of Josep Lloveras, Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Serbia, and Mr.Petar Škundrić, Minister of Energy and Mining in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and many representative of media.

Ms. Draginja Đurić, CEO and Ms. Hildegar Gacek, EBRD Director for Serbia signed the agreement in the presence of Josep Lloveras, Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Serbia, and Mr.Petar Škundrić, Minister of Energy and Mining in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and many representative of media.

On this occasion Ms. Hildegar Gacek said: ‘facility provided under this credit line are an important element of the EBRD strategy in Serbia as it will increase investments in energy efficiency and at the same time support the Serbian banking sector. We are delighted that Banca Intesa is the first Bank to join EBRD and EU in promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives in Serbia’.

Ms. Draginja Đurić, CEO of Banca Intesa emphasized that Banca Intesa, as the socially responsible Company, recognizes this initiative as a great chance to implement the energy saving project and thus benefit the development of not only economy sector but general welfare.
‘It is my great pleasure that we are the first Bank in Serbia to realize this project in cooperation with the EBRD, being of a paramount importance for both successful operation and development of domestic companies, and for the entire economic growth in our country. This credit line is only the first step in our effort to address the significance of developing ecological consciousness by setting our own example’, said Ms. Draginja Đurić.

Private companies to be granted these loans, will be given the repayment period of five years with 2 years grace period; after the realization of the project they will be repaid 20% of the value with the interest equaling Euroribor plus 3%.
