Banca Intesa Beograd starts issuing American Express cards

Banca Intesa American Express credit cards –  the clients’ budget friend

Based on the exclusive agreement with American Express, one of the largest card brands in the world, Banca Intesa Beograd shall start issuing the American Express Green and Gold credit cards on the home market from May 8th. By including this large world brand in its offer, Banca Intesa Beograd once again confirmed its leading position in the field of domestic card operations, being a step ahead in introducing novelties and keeping pace with the banking trends in the world. 

American Express, the world leader in issuing credit cards with a 155 years long history is coming to Serbia wishing to meet all the users’ requirements and their life style. These credit cards offer unique benefits and services to the beneficiaries when travelling, and in the country, as well.

At the press conference organized on that occasion on May 4th 2006, spoke Draginja Đurić, the CEO of Banca Intesa Beograd, Pascal Ginjard, the Vice-President of American Express and Dejan Tešić, Assistant Director General of Banca Intesa Beograd.

American Express Green and American Express Gold credit cards may be found in the offer of Banca Intesa Beograd. Both cards may be used in the country, as well as in 200 countries all over the world, on several million points of sale, on more than 550 000 ATMs and over 2200 American Express travel agencies in the world, including also the agency in Belgrade. American Express has almost 73 million users all over the world that, on the average, spend more than the users of other cards.

Banca Intesa American Express credit cards enable their users a higher credit limit, payment in installments up to 45 days without interest, whereby the minimum monthly amount to be paid is 3% of the total indebtedness from the previous month with the possibility to pay the obligation also in full, a special treatment and service in any of the 2200 American Express travel service offices, the opportunity of an urgent card replacement if the card is lost or stolen, the Selects programme of discounts and privileges valid both in Serbia and worldwide, insurance in case of luggage delay or loss, as well in case of the flight delay, and with each Banca Intesa American Express credit card you will get the Health Insurance Card of Delta Insurance free of charge with assistance and support on trips offered by Europ Assistance.

The main features of the American Express Green credit card are:

• A higher credit limit
• The minimum amount to be paid: 3% each month
• The interest on consumption from the previous period in dinars amounts to 2,20%
   (the effective interest rate is 30,31% p.a.)
•  The interest on consumption from the previous period in euro amounts to 1,25%
    (the effective interest rate is 16,32% p.a.)
•  Deferred payment up to 45 days without interest
•  The annual membership fee for the basic card amounts to 2.200 dinar,
    and for the additional card 1.000 dinar

Banca Intesa Beograd shall oblige the former users of American Express Green credit cards with a special offer which understands a 50% lower price of the annual membership fee only for former users. 

The main features of the American Express Gold credit card are:

• The feeling of financial freedom with a higher credit limit
• The lowest minimum amount to be paid at the market: 3% per month
• The more favourable interest rate
- Interest on consumption from the previous period in dinars amounts to 1,80%
   (the effective interest rate is 24,24 % p.a.)
- Interest on consumption from the previous perion in euro amounts to 1,10%
   (the effective interest rate is 14,24% a.)
•  Deferred payment up to 45 days without interest
•  The annual membership fee for the basic card is 6.600 dinar, and for the additional card 3.500 dinar

The interested parties may submit a request in any of the 160 branches of Banca Intesa Beograd in more than 100 towns of Serbia. The application procedure is very simple and the Bank informs the interested party within 48 hours whether the card was approved. The card user has not to be a client of the Bank, and the produced card shall be delivered to the applicant’s home address.

With the mentioned agreement, signed in November last year, the Bank got also the exclusive right to agree on the acceptance of American Express cards with the points of sale on our market and thanks to their great interest and the universal POS terminals that accept all payment cards, up to now several thousand points of sale joined the acceptance network of Banca Intesa Beograd and started accepting them, and a great number of interested parties signed up for it, which is a prerequisite for issuing and using of these cards.
